Orbital Storytelling

Exploring how a live orbital interface can turn invisible connections into a story.

STELLA L360 is a fictional orbital-monitoring system built as a living interface. It maps a constellation of satellites, surface links, relay paths, and the fragile connections between people on the ground.

At its center is a three-dimensional Earth rendered as a shifting wireframe. Signals extend outward to objects in orbit and across the surface, making a distributed technical network legible as one dynamic field rather than a list of data points.

The surrounding panel gives the system a human pulse: connection success rates, orbital measurements, active channels, and message traffic arrive alongside personal transmissions from people whose lives are partly held together by this infrastructure.

We developed the piece as an experiment in interface storytelling. The visual language needed to feel credible enough to invite investigation, while leaving enough ambiguity for the viewer to wonder what the system is really watching, carrying, and protecting.

STELLA L360 explores the idea that an operational interface can be more than a control panel. It can be a setting: a place where technology, distance, dependency, and human consequence become visible at the same time.
